My Journey...
My fitness journey started about a year ago, March 2014. I had just returned from my Junior year spring break trip to Florida and came back feeling so uncomfortable with myself and my body. When I started college I was 140 pounds and slowly over my first 3 years at Pitt, I gained up to 17 pounds, putting me at my highest weight of 157 pounds. When I came back from spring break I was at 154 pounds (I'm 5' 5") and that's where my journey began. I completed my first Whole30 in April 2014 and that was the kick in the butt I needed to get me going in the right directions. The rest of 2014 my weighted stayed between 151 and 145 pounds. I started 2015 off at 145 pounds but with various holidays and other college events taking place, I went up to 149 pounds by mid-March. This is when I officially said, enough is enough.
I changed my eating habits as well as how I approached my gym routines. I started lifting weights verses only doing cardio and it has been making a World of a difference. I have been eating a balanced diet with a strong focus on protein and fresh fruits and vegetables. I do my best not to count my calories as I am teaching myself how to use portion control as a more effective way of planning out my meals! I am no where near where I want to be, but I know for a fact that I am headed in the right direction. If you join me for any of my challenges, I promise that I will share all of my knowledge with you and I will encourage you along the entire journey! |
