Protein bars. We've all heard of them and we all have different opinions as to which ones make the prestige list and which ones are stuck being classified as "snack bars" or even "granola bars". I am certainly not here to tell you which ones are classified as which, as I could be wrong! I'm just here to share with you my favorites (mainly based on flavor and nutritional content)!
Quest Bars
The king of all protein bars, or at least one of the most popular brands. I've recently started eating these wonderful bars of joy (but really I LOVE THEM!) so I have not tried all of the flavors yet, but I am working on fixing that! What I can tell you is that I love how much protein they pack into these suckers and how they are able to keep the calories, fats and carbs low. The average bar has between 160 and 200 calories and 20 grams of protein. They also have around 5-8 grams of fat, 20 ish grams of carbs and less than 4 grams of sugar. Overall they are packed with protein and keep me full for at least 2-3 hours.
I've found these at a local nutrition store for as low as $2 each and between $2.29 and $2.89 at GNC and Wegman's depending on the current sales and promotions. Overall they are an average price for a protein bar.

Pure Protein Bars
So far I have tried two Pure Protein Bars and I am only a fan of one of the flavors. I tried the salted caramel and did not like that one so much, but I did really enjoy the greek yogurt strawberry bar. These are packed with 20 grams of protein and around 200 calories. There are a couple more flavors of this brand that I want to try... I'll update this post after I have tried them!
One of the nice things about these bars is that you don't have to buy a pack of 12 when you buy them at the store. I believe almost all major stores carry these bars, like Wal-Mart, Target and Costco. The boxes of 5 or 6 range between $6-$8 per box, which brings them down lower than the price of the Quest bars.

RxBars
Whole30 Approved! If you have ever completed or attempted a Whole30, you know how hard it was to eat on the go. I discovered these bars during my second Whole30, and although it is not recommended to eat a bar as a meal... they really came in handy when Whole30 approved foods were scarce.
Even if you're not doing the Whole30, these bars are great! They come in different flavors than you're usually used to seeing in protein bars, but they are made of all REAL ingredients which makes you feel good about what you're putting into your body. I love all of their flavors pretty equally, but just note that they aren't as packed full of protein as the rest of the bars in this list. These are great even though they only have 12 grams of protein and 200 calories!
You can buy the RxBars online at their website or on Amazon.com. Also a lot of CrossFit locations carry them, so just a heads up! These bars come in packs of 12, so unfortunately you have to shell out over $25 at a time when buying them. Their price is a little more than $2 each.

Think Thin Bars
Think Thin bars come in two different types; their regular bars and their high protein bars. I have tried two of their high protein bars and am a fan! I have tried the peanut butter covered in chocolate as well as the brownie bar. The only thing about these bars is that they are a little higher in calories, closer to 250 each, but they do have the 20 grams of protein like the other 2 bars I've talked about here. I think these have a little more flavor to them and that's why the calories are just a tad bit higher, but nothing to keep me from eating them!
Just like the Pure Protein bars, the Think Thin bars can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Target and other grocery stores. These come in boxes of 5 bars for about $5-7 each, bringing them to the lower price per bar of these four that I have talked about. I hate spending $2 per bar all the time, so if I want to save a little money i'll opt for these ones!
